Melon theft foiled by drone

The Local Police of Almenara, in the province of Castellón, have managed to arrest two individuals who were stealing melons from a field in the municipality, thanks to the use of drones in their surveillance operation. The pair was brought to justice after being caught red-handed by the agents.

The Chief of the Local Police, Javier Navarro, said they had detected two people collecting melons without authorization in one of the surveillance flights. When authorities arrived at the site, they caught the individuals stealing 400 to 500 kilos of melons.

Local Police drone flights focus on the prevention and detection of crop theft, and the identification of uncontrolled spills.
