Pilot works out well

New: passion fruit from Dutch greenhouses

Dutch passion fruit is new to Staay Food Group's range. One of its regular cultivation partners planted a small acreage of passion fruit plants in its greenhouse in Belfeld, Limburg, two years ago. After a successful pilot phase, the product is now available.

"It is unique that passion fruit is grown on Dutch soil. Dutch passion fruit is characterised by its sweeter taste and larger size than the well-known passion fruit. This is because local cultivation allows the product to be harvested ripe. As a result, the fruit is noticeably larger, sweeter and juicier. Moreover, only organic crop protection is used during cultivation. All this makes the product extremely suitable for foodservice customers where it's all about taste, quality and experience."

From now until October, the homegrown passion fruit will be available in 2 kg loose and 24 and 30 pieces laid out.
