Mango festival in Qatar sees 109-plus tons in sales

Organizers reported that the Al Hamba Festival in Qatar sold over 109 tons of mangoes in its initial five days, drawing attention from both residents and visitors. Launched on June 27 at Souq Waqif, the event, a collaboration between the Pakistan embassy in Doha and the Private Engineering Office's Celebrations Organising Committee, highlights a variety of mangoes such as Chaunsa and Duseri.

Serein Asad, from the Pakistan embassy, noted the positive reception and the diversity of mangoes presented, with more varieties expected from the Punjab region. The festival, extending over 10 days, also features mango saplings and aims to introduce sustainable mango cultivation in Qatar. Additionally, it includes other Pakistani fruits like jamun and falsa, alongside peaches, apricots, and plums. The event has attracted a wide audience, including transit passengers. Khaled Saif al-Suwaidi emphasized the exhibition's role in showcasing Pakistani culture and facilitating connections between mango sellers and Qatari businesses, alongside serving as a cultural exchange platform.
