As reported by Armenpress, an average of 58% of Armenia's agri-food products is exported to Russia, stated Deputy Minister of Economy Arman Khojoyan at a press conference while addressing the issue of export diversification.
According to Khojoyan, in 2024, four international exhibitions were held, in which about 120 Armenian organizations participated. "In other words, 120 organizations, with the support of the Ministry of Economy, had the opportunity to present their products in the United Arab Emirates, the USA, and EU countries. Based on the average and overall balance, 58% of agri-food products are exported to the Russian Federation," said Khojoyan.
He noted that more fundamental steps are necessary for the diversification of exports of fresh fruits and vegetables. According to the deputy minister, international partners are interested in whether fresh fruits or vegetables from orchards have the appropriate international certification and whether producers can provide information about the size, variety, and type. However, he believes this is quite challenging.
"That is why the intensive orchards program was initiated. The goal is to diversify exports and have orchards that meet international standards worldwide. The orchards planted within this project are already reaching a level of yield that can make a significant contribution to the export sector," reported the deputy minister.
