ZimTrade and Turkish Exporters Assembly initiate partnership to enhance trade relations

ZimTrade and the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) have initiated a partnership aimed at enhancing trade relations and diversifying the portfolio of goods and services exchanged between Zimbabwe and Turkey. TIM, acting as the umbrella entity for over 140,000 exporters across 61 associations in Turkey, brings a wealth of experience and reach to the collaboration.

The alliance was highlighted during an industrialisation benchmarking mission to Turkey, led by Zimbabwe's Permanent Secretary of Industry and Commerce, Dr. Thomas Utete Wushe, with insights provided by ZimTrade client advisor, Ms. Nozipho Maphala. She emphasized that targeting Turkey aligns with Zimbabwe's strategic goal to broaden its export markets, especially in emerging regions.

According to Ms. Maphala, a key aspect of this partnership is the reciprocal exchange of trade enhancement and promotion strategies, aimed at bolstering the support framework for exporters in both countries. This collaborative effort is anticipated to elevate the competitive edge of their exporters globally. The agreement opens avenues in various sectors, including agriculture, processed foods, arts, crafts, and textiles, with a pronounced demand in Turkey for fresh fruits, vegetables, and tobacco. This demand is spurred by Turkey's demographic growth and a shifting preference towards diverse dietary options, presenting a lucrative market for Zimbabwe's premium agricultural products.
