Peru has seen a notable increase in avocado exports to the U.S., with figures reaching nearly 75,000 metric tons, valued at over $145 million in 2023, as per USDA data. The introduction of Peruvian avocados to the U.S. market in 2006 has led to a consistent rise in both the volume and value of these shipments. Additionally, the organic segment of these exports has also experienced growth, escalating from $429,000 in 2012 to $11.3 million in 2023.
The year 2022 marked the zenith of Peruvian avocado exports to the U.S., with 122,000 metric tons valued at $270 million, underscoring the demand and trust in Peruvian produce within the American market. This trend reflects the U.S. consumer's preference for fresh, nutritious, and sustainably sourced produce, positioning Peru as a key player in fulfilling this demand and enhancing the trade relationship between the two nations.
