Avocado shipments from Mexico expected to increase as inspections have resumed

Avocado movement from Mexico crossings through Texas is expected to increase as inspections in Mexico resumed, with all packing houses now opened. Heavy harvesting increased supplies, pressuring prices to fall, since most buyers moved to other growing areas such as California, Peru, and Columbia to fill recent orders. Trading of 60-84s is fairly active, while other sizes are moderate. Cartons of 2-layer cartons of Hass 32-48s are mostly 63.25-65.25, 60s are mostly 61.25-63.25, 70s are mostly 52.25-55.25, and 84s are mostly 45.25-46.25; organic supplies are insufficient to quote. Extra services are included.

There continues to be a wide range in price. Movement from South District California is expected to remain about the same. Trading of conventional is fairly active at lower prices, organic is also fairly active. Prices of conventional is lower, organic is generally unchanged. Cartons 2-layer cartons of Hass 32-48s are mostly 66.25-68.25, 60s are mostly 63.25-65.25, 70s are mostly 54.25-56.25, 84s are mostly 48.25-50.25; organic 48s are mostly 74.25-76.25, 60s are mostly 66.25-70.25, 70s are mostly 58.25. Extra services are included.

Cucumber from Mexico crossings through Texas is expected about the same. Trading early was fairly active, late is moderate. Prices of medium are higher, large are slightly lower. 1 1/9-bushel cartons of medium are mostly 18.95-20.95, fair quality are mostly 14.95-15.95, ordinary quality are mostly 9.95-11.95, large are mostly 17.95-19.95. Quality and condition are variable. Movement from Mexico crossings through Otay Mesa, California, is expected about the same.
