Cryopak acquires gel-pack segment from Garden State Cold Storage in the US

Cryopak, engaged in cold chain packaging and temperature monitoring solutions, has completed the acquisition of the Gel-Pack manufacturing division from Garden State Cold Storage (GSCS), a provider of cold storage logistics for the food and beverage sector in the northeastern United States. This acquisition enables Cryopak to consolidate Gel-Pack production and freezing processes at a single location, aiming to reduce costs, enhance service levels, and improve lead times. The transaction was finalized on May 10, with production anticipated to start in late summer. Cryopak's North American presence now includes 10 facilities, with its parent company, Integreon Global, operating 18 locations globally.

The acquisition marks Cryopak's second in the past eight months, following the purchase of Icy Cools, a retail Gel-Pack manufacturer. This move expanded Cryopak's retail offerings, notably with Icy Cools' innovative hot/cold mats. Furthermore, Cryopak's Atlanta facility has invested in spiral freezing technology, a first for a North American gel-pack manufacturer, expected to significantly reduce lead times for frozen products.
