Between May 1 and July 14, Georgia exported 4,500 tons of blueberries, generating a revenue of USD 26.2 million. The Ministry of Agriculture reported a 56% increase in export volume, amounting to an additional 1,600 thousand tons, and a 53% rise in value, totalling an extra USD 9.1 million, compared to the corresponding period last year. Major markets for Georgian blueberries include Russia, Germany, Poland, the United Arab Emirates, Armenia, the Netherlands, Turkey, among others.
Under the state program "Implant the Future," the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture has facilitated the establishment of 2,836 hectares of new blueberry orchards across the country, with GEL 53.5 million in co-financing. The export value for the current year has already surpassed the total for 2023 by USD 5.6 million, with 3,400 tons shipped abroad this year.
