Project Mango Unnati aims to enhance sustainable agriculture in India

Coca-Cola India, in partnership with Gram Unnati, has initiated "Project Mango Unnati" to advance sustainable mango farming in Karnataka, focusing on Alphonso and Totapuri mango varieties. The project is collaborating with state horticulture entities including Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), the Mango Board, the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), and horticulture departments across various districts.

The initiative seeks to improve mango yields and farmer incomes through the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices, thereby improving the quality, size, and shelf life of mangoes. Project Mango Unnati will introduce rejuvenation techniques for ageing orchards and advocate for high-density plantation methods. Emphasizing micro-irrigation, integrated pest management (IPM), and water conservation efforts, the project aims to foster sustainable farming practices.

Furthermore, Project Mango Unnati will provide crop advisory services, including climate forecasting and crop alert systems, to promote climate-smart agriculture. Training modules designed to empower female farmers are also part of the initiative, aiming to promote gender equality within the agricultural sector.
