The fully automated Giro and Serfruit line

"Automation is the future and our customers are increasingly aware of this"

"Automation is having a profound impact on the fruit industry, changing the way products are grown, harvested, processed and distributed. Our customers are quickly recognising the benefits of this technological innovation and are using it to improve efficiency and quality. The benefits of these technologies allow them to integrate automated solutions into their daily operations," says Laura González, sales manager for the Girò Group in northern Italy.

"Automation plays an important role in the processing of fruit and vegetables: automated packing lines increase efficiency, reduce processing time and lower operating costs; logistics also benefits from automation; inventory management, product handling and distribution are all improved by automated warehouse management systems and self-driving AGVs or goods tracking via RFID. Our customers are increasingly aware of the importance of these systems to remain competitive and meet the growing expectations of supermarkets and consumers. We have prepared a video to give you an insight into how automation is transforming fruit packaging. The video highlights the benefits that this technology can bring."

Automating processes makes it easier to reduce production costs in factories. Here are some of the main features:

Precision, speed and operational efficiency - Thanks to the work of anthropomorphic arms combined with ad hoc software, a gripper designed and perfected for fruit and vegetables, speed and precision improve processing times. This means lower operating costs and greater capacity to meet demand.

Improved food safety - Integrated traceability systems (such as RFID) allow each step of the process to be monitored, ensuring that any problems can be quickly identified and resolved.

Adaptability and customisation - Another interesting aspect of automation is the ability of packaging lines to adapt. These systems can easily be used to process different types of fruit in different types of packaging, such as boxes or pallets of different sizes (60x40, 60x30, etc.) or materials such as wood, cardboard or plastic. This allows the process to be tailored to specific customer requirements.

"We have made this video to show how automation is revolutionising fruit packaging, offering a range of benefits from increased operational efficiency, improved traceability, and last but not least, the ability to overcome labour shortages. Our customers, increasingly aware of these benefits, are incorporating these technologies into their production processes in order to be competitive and sustainable in an ever-changing market."
