"We've come out stronger from adverse international contexts, such as the pandemic or the war in Ukraine"

Agroejido generates 70% of its sales in European markets and has grown by 50% in the last four years

In 2023, Andalusia consolidated its position in international markets with exports totaling 38,537 million euros, its second-best historical record. This success was achieved thanks to companies such as Agroejido, the Almeria-based company that specializes in selling fruit and vegetable products at origin and destination.

Agroejido was founded in 1976 by a group of buyers who decided to work together on marketing products. They started as an auction and are currently one of the leading companies in Almeria's countryside.

The company has faced adverse international contexts, such as the pandemic or the war in Ukraine, and come out stronger. "In recent years, we've managed to ensure the company has an acceptable growth and that a significant number of farmers join the project, which has made us grow by 50% in the last four years," stated the company's president, Antonio Enciso Ruiz.

With a production of 90 million kilos and a turnover that exceeds 100 million euros, the company works mainly for European markets. "We distribute 40% of our sales directly to other European countries. In addition, 30% of the sales we make at origin are to companies that also export to different parts of Europe," Enciso added.

"Our main customers are supermarket chains in Spain and Europe," Enciso stated. Agroejido produces the products it sells in more than 3,000 hectares of productive area, belonging to 1,500 farmers who collaborate with the company, using the most advanced structures and computerized management systems as part of their important commitment to R&D.

The company is also an example of the guaranteed quality of Andalusian products. "Andalusia is a seal of quality for all of our customers abroad," the Andalusian manager stated.

In its international trajectory, the Almeria-based company has had the support of the Junta de AndalucĂa, through AndalucĂa TRADE. "We've had a pretty close relationship for a long time. They've accompanied us to different fairs, such as Fruit Logistica and Fruit Attraction. We've carried out different actions throughout Europe. We've been in Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, and Sweden. We have a great relationship and are very grateful to them," the president of Agroejido stated.
