The peak season for importing and exporting fruits in the second half of the year is about to begin. With importers and exporters increasingly looking to open new markets amidst ongoing shipping schedule instability, the demand for temperature monitoring devices in cold chain transportation has surged significantly.
"These products are divided into RTH 4G real-time temperature & humidity monitoring devices and disposable USB temperature data loggers. The purchase volume of RTH 4G real-time temperature & humidity monitoring devices is rising significantly," said Tina Sun from Fresh-key (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd., a company specializing in cold chain IoT monitoring solutions for post-harvest transportation of fresh fruits.

"According to customers, compared to the previous two years, the market activity for imported and exported fruits has increased this year, boosting sales and, consequently, the purchase of temperature monitoring products. One customer, who mainly sells fruits in Europe, has tripled their order volume for these products compared to the last two years. Another customer, who exports Chinese fruits to the Russian market, has increased their monthly purchase volume since the beginning of the year."

Tina explained that the performance of these devices has been optimized over the past two years, leading customers to choose them again. "For example, our real-time monitoring products now include 4G real-time smart sensors and the Fresh-IOT cold chain platform utilizing 4G CAT1/M technology. Currently, the product is compatible with internet networks in more countries, including 2G and 3G networks, ensuring data monitoring integrity in cross-border transportation."
"Secondly, if the data cannot be connected to the Internet, the device can be remotely awakened and upgraded, enhancing its intelligence. Furthermore, the software and hardware design allows the battery life to last up to 90 days. These features enable merchants to monitor temperature and humidity conditions during transportation in real-time, even when sea freight schedules are unstable, helping to predict the quality of the fruit upon arrival at the port."

"In addition, our platform also facilitates multi-party collaboration and management through email invitations and logistics information can be viewed via the waybill management page, making it user-friendly. With technological advancements, the unit price of real-time monitoring products has gradually decreased."
Regarding the disposable USB temperature loggers, Tina noted, "Customer feedback indicates that the quality of USB products on the market needs improvement. Many products are based on the physical properties of NTC, leading to temperature deviations of 1-3 degrees. In contrast, our loggers use TI chip-level data sensors, which, despite being more costly, rely on electronic digital properties and are not affected by environmental factors, ensuring high accuracy."
