Ukrainian company expands greenhouse complex

The Ukrainian greenhouse company PAEK continues to build greenhouses for growing cucumbers and tomatoes. The company is scaling up its facilities. It is planned to complete the construction of 7 more greenhouses by the end of 2024. As the owner of the agricultural holding Yuri Kormyshkin notes, the project provides for the construction of 2 large greenhouses with an area of 1,050 meters and 5 small ones with an area of 1,030 meters. Thus, the greenhouse complex will be expanded to 17 greenhouses. Installation and construction work is underway: they are leveling the site for construction, laying water supply and heating networks.

"When we started building a greenhouse business at the end of 2022, the primary task was to provide our enterprises with self-grown seedlings for open-ground vegetables. In 2023, when the construction was completed, the timing of sowing seed material made it possible to use ready-made greenhouses for sowing radishes. Later, in addition to seedlings, we experimentally planted cucumbers and tomatoes in greenhouses. Today, we see the prospect of developing greenhouse farming as a separate area of vegetable growing for growing vegetables in closed soil," says Yuriy Kormyshkin.

The greenhouse complex continues to harvest tomatoes, is finishing harvesting cucumbers, and is caring for a new crop of greenhouse cucumbers.

"This year, there is a catastrophic situation with the vegetables that we grow in the field. Part of the harvest was destroyed by the heat. In August, cucumbers in Ukraine always had a low price, people had the opportunity to buy them for canning and eat their fill. This year, we see that the retail price in August reaches 50-80 per kilogram. There is not enough cucumber. We decided to plant cucumbers in greenhouses, especially since one warm bush produces three times more harvest than a field one," says Yuriy Kormyshkin.

In 2023, the company LLC "SP "PAEK" significantly increased the area for growing fruit and vegetable products. The following crops have already been harvested from the field: zucchini, young cabbage, beets, winter onions. The harvest and sale of eggplants, sweet corn, salad peppers, spring onions, carrots, tomatoes, melons and watermelons continues. Subsequently, the assortment will be replenished with late beets, late carrots, pumpkins, cucumbers. The greenhouse farm will ensure long-term sales of tomatoes and cucumbers. Vegetable products are sold under the SMAKOTA trademark.
