Affordable real-time data logger with unique features available

Real-time data loggers have been around for quite some time and are a valuable tool to track the temperature, humidity, and location of produce while it is in transit. Data can be monitored from the shipper to cold storage, to the consumer. Often, the purchase price of the logger itself may not be the dealbreaker, but the supporting software makes for a costly package. "In some cases, an upfront fee of $15,000 is required to support the logger," says Russ Holt with QA Supplies. "One of the big benefits of the logger we are offering is that there's no requirement to buy a cellular data package or expensive software," he added.

Cellular technology
According to Holt, this logger, named LogTag LT5GEO, differentiates from other products in the market by price, but also by capabilities. Location, humidity, shock, light and temperature are recorded in real time to detect any environmental breaches, allowing shippers to act immediately and protect their products before they spoil. "It's also the first 5G logger I've seen. There are other cellular loggers out there, but this is the first one using the 5G network that I'm aware of," said Holt." In addition, the logger has an auto flight mode, which is fairly unique. When the logger recognizes it is on a flight, data transmission stops while it continues to record and once the flight has landed, the logger will resume transmitting.

Instant alerts
The LT5GEO provides instant alerts via phone, email, text or WhatsApp to ensure key contacts are notified immediately when any of the values get out of range. Knowing the location and condition of the product while in transit with GPS, humidity, shock, light and temperature sensors allows for timely preparation of the shipment's arrival. In addition, customers are aware of any potential damage and tampering before the products get delivered.

The logger allows for real-time conditions to be checked remotely while the product is still in transit as data automatically uploads via a 4G or 5G network to LogTag® Online. In addition, data can be viewed on the go through the LogTag® Mobile App.

LogTag® calls itself a provider of cost-effective solutions for monitoring temperature and humidity. Headquartered in New Zealand, the engineering team designs and develops all LogTag products and software in New Zealand. However, North America is a key market for the company. Together with South America, the two continents generate about 50 percent of LogTag's worldwide sales. "The company has been around for 20 years, and we've been very happy with some of the other LogTag products we carry in our assortment," Holt said.
