Rosselkhoznadzor identifies reason for doubling of fruit and veg imports from China to Amur Region, Russia

Rosselkhoznadzor has reported a twofold increase in the import of fruits and vegetables from China to the Amur Region. From January to August 11, the region received 52,500 tons of produce, compared to 22,500 tons in the same period last year. This surge in imports is attributed to the commencement of operations at the temporary storage warehouse at the Kanikurgan customs and logistics terminal.

Direct imports from China to the Amur Region included vegetables such as potatoes, tomatoes, onions, peppers, cabbage, and carrots, as well as fruits like peaches, nectarines, watermelons, grapes, passion fruit, apricots, plums, pears, and pineapples, along with various berries. Inspectors from the Amur branch of Rosselkhoznadzor have already conducted over 15,000 quality checks on the imported produce, marking a 38% increase compared to 2023, according to the agency.

The first batch of fruits and vegetables passed through the new temporary storage warehouse at the Kanikurgan terminal in June of this year. The inspection authorities are also conducting quality checks on the incoming produce at this location.
