Mangoes are the main fruit - by volume - currently exported from Egypt. The season is marked by a high production volume, which has resulted in a great deal of competition between exporters and a disparity in their assessment of the success of the campaign.
For his part, Mohammed Ezzat, CEO of Egyptian producer Green Nile, is satisfied with the current campaign. He says: "I am completely satisfied with this season's prices. This year, the harvest is abundant and the quantities of mangoes are large, which has led to a normal drop in prices. Compared with last season, prices are down by around 10%, which isn't too bad."
"Competition is fierce, but we can count on the quality of Egyptian mangoes," continues the producer. "Egypt is still one of the main mango exporting countries because it has excellent quality, a high Brix percentage, and a distinctive mango color and taste. As for prices, Egypt remains very competitive."
"Demand is strong as well. The Zabadiya variety, which has a high Brix percentage and a distinctive color and taste, is the most popular Egyptian mango variety this season. The countries with the highest demand are China, Germany, and Brazil, while Polish demand is slower than our expectations," concludes Ezzat.
