Pakistan has exported 13,681 metric tons of mangoes to 42 countries, generating $46.7 million in revenue over the course of the last one and a half months of this summer season. Official documents revealed that the United Kingdom was the top revenue source, importing mangoes worth $13.2 million. In terms of quantity, Kazakhstan emerged as the leading importer with 4,467 metric tons of Pakistani mangoes.
Mangoes hold a vital position in Pakistan's horticulture, often termed as the "king of fruits" and ranking second in cultivation following citrus. Known globally for their sweetness, juiciness, nutritional value, and distinct flavor, Pakistani mangoes are a sought-after commodity. The country's annual production hovers around 1.8 million tons, predominantly in Sindh and Punjab, featuring varieties like Sindhri, Chaunsa, Langra, Anwar Ratol, Dusehri, Fajri, Bangan Pali, and Saroli. The mango season typically spans from May to September.
Export figures for the period show significant contributions from the United Kingdom ($13.2 million), the United Arab Emirates ($9.2 million), and Kazakhstan ($8.95 million), alongside notable earnings from Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Germany, and other nations.
