The Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) disclosed that Iran's tomato exports attained a value of $177 million within the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-August 21), positioning tomatoes as the second most exported agricultural commodity following pistachios. This period saw a 33 percent increase in the value of Iran's agricultural product exports compared to the corresponding timeframe last year. A total of 2.657 million tons of agricultural goods, valued at $1.453 billion, were exported, marking a 22 percent rise in weight year on year.

Earlier reports by the IRICA highlighted a 32 percent year-on-year increase in value for the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year, with agricultural exports totaling 2.226 million tons valued at $1.18 billion. Additionally, the previous Iranian calendar year witnessed a 22.5 percent increase in the value of agricultural and foodstuff product exports, totaling approximately $6.3 billion, as stated by Ruhollah Latifi, the spokesman of the International Relations and Trade Development Committee of Iran's House of Industry, Mining and Trade.
