Hans Huistra takes over as CEO of Royal HZPC Group

As of today, potato breeder Royal HZPC Group welcomes Hans Huistra as its new CEO. In a hybrid meeting, broadcast from the headquarters in Joure, colleagues from all of Royal HZPC Group's global locations (HZPC, STET and ZOS) had the opportunity to gain a first impression of Hans Huistra.

Hans Huistra, CEO of Royal HZPC Group, is keen to meet as many colleagues and partners as possible. 'I am looking forward to meet customers, growers, colleagues, and other partners in the coming period. Together, we will work to make the greatest contribution possible to feeding the growing world population,' he states.

Born in Joure in 1968, Hans Huistra brings with him an extensive experience of more than thirty years in leadership. He has held key positions with renowned organizations such as Unilever, Friesland Campina, Hero, and Fonterra. In addition, he has contributed to Cosun's Supervisory Board for the past seven years. His career has spanned several countries, giving him a wide range of experience in the agricultural and food sectors in Europe, Asia, America, and Africa. Interaction with growers has always been a crucial aspect of his work. Royal HZPC Group is delighted to welcome him as its new CEO.

At the same time, the potato breeder announces today that its former CEO, Gerard Backx, is resigning from his position within Royal HZPC Group and will use his experience and expertise in the coming months for Royal HZPC Group. For the past 23 years, Gerard has worked with tremendous passion and dedication to improve the global food supply. Royal HZPC Group is pleased to announce that Gerard Backx will continue his expertise through at least HZPC and STET's Potato Days on November 7 and 8, 2024. This transition period will ensure a thorough handover to Hans Huistra. Royal HZPC Group looks forward to the fresh insights and dynamics this changeover brings.
