Customs authorities in Karachi, Pakistan, intercepted a drug smuggling attempt through the International Mail Office at Jinnah International Airport. The operation was based on precise intelligence, leading to the detention of an EMS parcel from Bangkok, Thailand, falsely labeled as 'Fresh Galangal (Thai Ginger)'. Upon inspection and laboratory testing, it was discovered the parcel contained 500 grams of Marijuana (Cannabis), with an estimated value of Rs 2.25 million. The intended recipient was identified as Muhammad Usama Mahmood, residing in Gulistan-e-Johar, Karachi. An FIR has been registered against Mahmood, and efforts to capture those involved in the smuggling operation are ongoing. The Customs department is escalating its efforts to curb drug smuggling activities.
