Asia Fruit Logistica is taking place in Hong Kong this week. Yesterday, September 3, 2024, the event kicked off with an opening gala dinner at Hotel Kerry, Kowloon, offering a stunning view of Hong Kong's harbor. Approximately 1,000 representatives of fresh produce companies around the world were in attendance, creating a great environment to network and exchange ideas.

Dr. Mario Tobías, CEO of Messe Berlin, the organizer of Asia Fruit Logistica, delivered the opening speech, marking the official start of the event. He highlighted the importance of the Asian market in the global fresh produce trade, emphasizing the strategic role Hong Kong plays as a gateway to Asia. Dr. Tobías also underscored the event's commitment to fostering international business relationships and showcasing the latest advancements in produce technology, packaging, and logistics. It is his first time attending Asia Fruit Logistica as he became CEO of Messe Berlin in September 2023.

The gala was co-hosted by different partners in the produce industry, including Guangzhou Jiangnan Agricultural Group, Shanghai Huizhan Fruit and Vegetable Market and Asiafruit. Liu Xiongjin, general manager of Shanghai Hui Zhan Fruit & Vegetable Market, also gave a speech. His remarks focused on the opportunities in the Asian market and the critical need for innovation and sustainability in meeting the region's growing demand for fresh produce. Ye Canjiang, Chairman of Guangzhou Jiangnan Agricultural Group, addressed the audience as well.

The gala dinner opened with the traditional Lion Dance, delighting the Chinese audience as well as attendees from around the world. The dinner not only provided a platform for networking but also set the stage for a series of conferences, product showcases, and business meetings that will take place this week.
