Increase in French peach production

"As of September 1st, 2024, French peach production is estimated at 231,000 tons in 2024, which is 4% higher than in 2023 and 3% higher than the average of the last five harvests (2019-2023). In August, the market improved and prices were up 15% from last year," according to Agreste's economic outlook published this week.

Higher volumes in 2024
The French production of peaches and nectarines is expected to reach 231,000 tons in 2024, which is 4% higher than last year and 3% higher than the average for the last five harvests (2019 to 2023).
Production is up across all regions. In the PACA region, production is expected to be up 4% from 2023, thanks in particular to "favorable weather conditions" (frequent rainfall and warm weather), "despite pest pressure". In Occitanie, production is up by 3%, with small calibers this year in the Roussillon. In the Rhône valley, production is expected to be 6% higher than in 2023, due to "good grading and abundant flowering in the spring."

More dynamic market in August and price increase
"After a start to the season marked by low consumption and a drop in prices, the market became more active in August. The month was warmer, which boosted sales, while the high supply dropped significantly. Throughout the month, prices recovered: +15% from 2023 and +6% compared to the 2019-2023 average."
