The EuFruitbasket campaign aims to boost fruit consumption in Germany and Spain

EuFruitbasket, the European information and promotion campaign to increase the consumption of EU fresh fruit and vegetables on the EU internal market (Germany and Spain), is going to launch a new and interesting initiative aimed at promoting the consumption of nectarines, peaches, kiwis, and kakis in Spain and Germany.

This three-year campaign, which will run from May 2024 to April 2027, is co-financed by the European Commission under Regulation (EU) 1144/2024, which supports information provision and promotion measures for agricultural products in the internal market. The campaign is the result of collaboration between Asepop Velventou, based in Velventos Kozanis (Greece), and the Spanish Kaki Association, based in Valencia (Spain), who are committed to supplying the highest quality fruits to European consumers.

Campaign objectives and strategies
EuFruitbasket has been designed around three basic communication strategies aimed at consumers, opinion leaders, and traditional market buyers. The campaign will carry out different promotional activities, including participation in Fruit Attraction and Fruit Logistica, the publication of advertorials in magazines, interaction on social networks, and tasting days to achieve the following key objectives:

  • Educating consumers. The campaign aims to encourage healthier eating habits across Europe by sharing new knowledge about the health benefits of eating at least five servings of a variety of fruits and vegetables each day.
  • Increasing sales and export values. The campaign focuses on education and boosting the sales and export value of the organizations participating in Spain and Germany. The campaign will emphasize the superior quality, flavor, and nutritional benefits of European nectarines, peaches, kiwis, and kakis to differentiate them from their non-European competition.
