Looking closer at the growth of global grape demand

Salix Fruits has examined trends and changes in global grape demand. In recent years, it has observed several significant trends that are transforming the global grape market.

"One of the most notable changes is the growing preference for seedless varieties, driven by consumers' desire for more convenient and easy-to-consume products," says Ignacio Vidales, sales director.

Additionally, the demand for organic and sustainably grown grapes has significantly increased. This reflects a heightened awareness and concern for health and the environment among consumers.

Vidales says one notable change is the growing preference for seedless varieties, driven by consumers' desire for more convenient and easy-to-consume products.

"Sustainable farming practices and organic certifications are now key factors for accessing certain market segments, especially in Europe and North America," says Vidales. "The ability to innovate and diversify the use of grapes is crucial for staying competitive in an ever-evolving global market."

Vidales points out that globalization and advancements in preservation and transportation technologies have made it easier to access emerging markets in Asia and Latin America. The demand for fresh fruit, including grapes, is rising due to the growth of the middle class and urbanization.

"These trends present both opportunities and challenges, which is why we are committed to ensuring the availability of our grapes throughout the entire year. We work with growers in India, South Africa, Egypt, Italy, Peru, Chile, and the United States, allowing us to maintain a constant presence in all markets," says Vidales.
