The Agricultural and Fisheries Information Service of the Regional Government of Andalucia published a report on the phenological status of greenhouse crops in the region during the first week of September. The most significant data by province are presented below.
In Almeria, there's been an increase in the number of greenhouses with new plantations, as producers have already completed land preparation, disinfection, and structural improvement work. Despite the lack of water in the Campo de Níjar region, the season is progressing normally. Harvesting has already begun on the earliest California pepper plantations, while Lamuyo and Italian peppers are in the early stages of cultivation. Producers are tranplanting tomatoes and some of the earliest plantations are being staked.
In Cadiz, some greenhouses in La Algaida are at the end of the pear tomato cycle, with good yields and sizes. The fruits on the basal floors are sweet or ripe, and those on the top are green.
Producers in Alhama, Granada, are harvesting Caniles tomatoes. Yields are good but prices are low. Some greenhouses have newly planted green beans and some Italian peppers are being harvested.
In Huelva, producers are getting ready to plant strawberries, irrigating the land, and preparing the beds, with no water problems. The raspberry plantations are being staked, and blueberry plantations are in their summer vegetative rest, waiting to sprout in October.
In Malaga, producers are harvesting eggplants. Production is scarce and prices are good. In Vélez-Málaga, pepper and cucumber production is normal, pear tomatoes are in the fattening and ripening phase, and pear cherry tomatoes have low yields and high prices.
