Drugs found in banana deliveries to French supermarket chain

In a recent incident in eastern France, a French supermarket chain, Grand Frais, discovered dozens of kilograms of cocaine hidden under banana pallets in four of their stores located in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. The narcotics, weighing between 40 and 50 kg, were found by the staff who confirmed that the substances had not been in contact with the bananas.

The origins of the cocaine are believed to be from Colombia, and authorities are now focusing on uncovering how the drugs were placed within the fruit pallets and identifying the intended recipients. Olivier Caracotch, the prosecutor in Dijon, Burgundy, revealed specific quantities discovered at different locations, including 10 kg in Beaune and between 10 and 12 kg across three other stores.

A spokesperson from Grand Frais has stated their cooperation with law enforcement to facilitate the ongoing investigation and to ensure the safety of both staff and customers. Further details from the supermarket representatives have not been disclosed at this time.
