Hinojosa Packaging Group launches an alternative to plastic, exclusively for E. Leclerc

New corrugated trays for summer fruit

Hinojosa Packaging Group announces the launch of its new 100% sustainable and recyclable corrugated trays, developed exclusively for the E. Leclerc chain. This initiative aims to replace the plastic trays used for summer fruit, in compliance with the AGEC law.

Hinojosa

A project dedicated to the French market and the Eco+ brand of E. Leclerc
"These corrugated trays are designed for the Eco+ brand, E. Leclerc's budget brand. They are designed to hold 1kg of apricots, peaches or nectarines. They are designed to be packed in trays of 10 and fit IFCO 6413 containers for optimized transport. This packaging withstands the constraints of the refrigerated supply chain to preserve the quality of summer fruit. The top flaps can be temporarily closed for convenient intermediate storage in IFCO bins. Finally, the flat surfaces ensure easy labeling and optimum visibility of the fruit," explains the group in its press release.

A sustainable and ecological solution
The tray is made from 100% corrugated cardboard, making it fully recyclable and compostable. "It therefore significantly reduces the environmental footprint compared with plastic trays. The main challenge was to replace the rigidity and resistance of plastic with the properties of corrugated cardboard, while guaranteeing effective protection for fragile fruit in a refrigerated environment during transport."
