"Our branded offer also features PGI table grapes from Puglia. Quality is very high thanks to a high Brix level and the recent rain that has given plants an extra 'push'. Demand from big retail chains is in line with expectations," reports Leonardo Odorizzi from La Grande Bellezza Italiana (LGBI) company network.
"I would like to thank Consorzio dell'uva Igp di Puglia and its president Michele La Porta for this partnership, which guarantees a supply of high-quality produce. The objective is twofold: to give producers fair returns and to offer consumers high-quality products at fair prices. So far, we are succeeding."
LGBI will attend Fruit Attraction, in Madrid, to show the network's offer to European buyers.
"This year, we have had great success with doubled quantities of PGI peaches from Verona. We succeeded in the twofold aim of paying farmers well and, in agreement with some big retail chains, of maintaining an acceptable price for producers, often no more than €2/kg. Sales have taken off thanks to this and to a warm weather that has boosted consumption."
From onions to radicchio, apples, grapes, citrus fruits, peaches and pears: LGBI is betting on PGI products with a brand that also attracts the attention of foreign buyers.
"Our brand is placed alongside the PGI mark, so we have a double guarantee. We invite everyone to come see us in Hall 3, stand 3A03B. It will be possible to see the products that will be marketed in the fall and set up possible collaborations."
