The first volumes of French butternut squash have arrived

According to Eric Godard-Durand, president of Agence Laparra, the French butternut season is "off to a slow start. There is some demand, but it is still summer." Volumes are a little low for the moment, but should pick up from October onwards, as they do every year. "The campaign is shaping up well again this year, with good volumes and quality." Alongside the French production, butternut squash from Spain, where harvesting started in August, are also entering the French market.

A product that continues to grow
Butternut squash used to be considered an "old-fashioned" vegetable, but it is now regaining popularity in French kitchens. "Demand is growing every year," confirms Eric Godard-Durand. Thanks to this demand, and because it is so easy to grow, many French producers are turning to this product.

The Open Golf of Fruit and Vegetables is this week
The Open Golf of Fruit and Vegetables will be held again this year, from September 27th to 30th. The 31st edition will be held in Barcelona. Every year, this major event brings together key players of the fruit and vegetable sector (around 50 people this time around), including transporters, clients, producers, refrigeration specialists, sales representatives and wholesalers, to enjoy a friendly get-together. "There are no strings attached, whether you are a seasoned golfer or a beginner," according to Eric Godard Durand, co-organiser of the event.
