The recent flooding in Austria, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic has impacted the transport network, affecting container facilities and causing operational delays. Hapag-Lloyd, a German ocean carrier, stated that its container depots in these countries have been affected, leading to potential delays in container releases. The company has requested patience and understanding from its customers during this period.
Additionally, Kuehne+Nagel, a global freight forwarder, reported that the Ostrava terminal in the Czech Republic is set to reopen for rail access following its closure due to the floods. The firm anticipates that normal operations at the Ostrava terminal will resume by the weekend, with the first Ceska Trebova – Ostrava route train departing soon. However, in Austria, while most routes are operational again, the status of services through the Krems terminal remains uncertain due to unconfirmed passability of lines by infrastructure managers.
