Sawari Fresh announces the launch of its first locally and organically grown ginger. "This milestone in Dutch agriculture combines sustainable growing practices with innovations in eco-friendly packaging," indicates Mark Grim, sales director of Sawari Fresh. From this season, the ginger will be available in various supermarkets and fresh food shops throughout the Netherlands.
Sawari Fresh is responding to increasing consumer demand for locally-grown ginger. "Sawari's ginger is produced under close growing conditions and guarantees exceptional flavor and freshness. We have always listened to our customers, and they have made it clear that they want high-quality ginger, sustainably produced and grown close to home," Mark continues. "With this product, we are therefore further pushing sustainability and meeting the changing needs of our customers."
Perfect Plants
Sawari Fresh has developed an approach to ginger production in collaboration with Perfect Plants, which specializes in tissue culture technology. The new cultivar has been developed using Perfect Plants' tissue culture technology, rigorous plant certification, and hardening-off processes. "In tissue culture, you use small pieces of plant tissue grown under sterile conditions to produce genetically identical and disease-free plants," says Perfect Plants. After years of research and development, Sawari Fresh and Perfect Plants have optimized ginger for the unique Dutch climate. This has resulted in an organic product that meets stringent European standards."
Eco-friendly packaging
The fresh ginger is packaged in eco-friendly packaging, developed in collaboration with Halopack. "Sawari Fresh is further committed to reducing its environmental footprint. The packaging preserves the freshness of the ginger and further contributes to the company's mission to promote a more sustainable food supply chain."
