Namibian start-up Fudlink is set to introduce a mobile application to transform agricultural trade within the country. The application's pre-launch is scheduled during the Windhoek Agricultural and Livestock Show 2024, as announced by Twama Nghidinwa, founder of Fudlink Agricultural Technology CC. This event aims to unite farmers, logistics providers, retailers, and consumers on a singular digital platform.
The Fudlink app is designed as an integrated platform facilitating connections between producers, buyers, and logistics services, aiming to reduce inefficiencies, minimize food wastage, and fortify local supply chains. "Our goal is to empower small-scale farmers by giving them access to formal markets and building a logistics ecosystem that supports Namibia's agricultural sector," Nghidinwa stated. This initiative follows discussions at a recent ICT summit in Windhoek, highlighting the app as a step towards embracing technology to tackle agricultural challenges and improve food security, including for vulnerable groups.
Established in 2021, Fudlink emerged as the winner of a digital marketplace competition organized by the GIZ Farming for Resilience (F4R) project in 2023, aimed at boosting agribusiness and marketing in rural areas. The competition saw participation from various stakeholders in the agri-food sector, including the Namibian Agronomic Board and the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform. The pre-launch event will demonstrate the app's features and facilitate registration for agricultural stakeholders.
