In Azerbaijan, the price of lemons has surged dramatically in recent months, despite the ongoing harvest season. Currently, lemons are selling for €0.26-0.29 per fruit, compared to last year when five lemons could be bought for 0.53 euros.
Experts attribute this price increase to a combination of bad weather and rising costs. The economist explained that heavy rains and storms during the spring and summer months significantly reduced lemon yields, delaying the harvest. He also noted that there is currently much less supply on the market compared to the same period last year.
In addition to weather-related issues, rising fuel costs have increased transportation expenses, further driving up prices.
While it is expected a slight decrease in lemon prices over the next month, this drop will be temporary. As the holiday season approaches, consumers should expect another price hike.
