2024 Rocha Pear harvest increased by 5.7%

The Rocha Pear harvest by the ANP (National Association of Rocha Pear Producers) Members in 2024 amounted to 114 759 tons, representing a slight increase (5.7%) compared to the 2023 harvest and about half of the 2021 harvest.

"Due to the climatic and phytosanitary conditions recorded throughout the campaign, especially in its final phase, significant losses are expected in the fruit already stored in the fruit processing centers. In practice, the registered increase (5.7%) is not expected to be effective, and the amount of commercializable Rocha Pear may be equal to or lower than last year's campaign," the ANP notes in a short statement.

2023 Campaign
"This is the second-worst harvest of the last decade and the third consecutive year with less than 50% of pears, far below the productive potential. Nevertheless, the sector remains committed to prioritizing its regular customers with the usual quality and to upholding the prestige of Rocha do Oeste PDO. We emphasize the necessary collaboration of all to ensure the sustainability of the producers and this very special fruit of ours."
