New low carbon emission banana to launch

Chiquita is thrilled to return to the International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) Trade Show for another year of new launches. Its main attraction at this year's show is the introduction of its Yelloway One (YW01), a new banana prototype resistant to diseases and low in carbon emissions. Additionally, the company will unveil its new Sustainability Report and immerse visitors in a taste of the tropics.

The YW01 banana prototype is resistant to diseases and low in carbon emissions.

The introduction of the Yelloway One is the result of a joint venture between Chiquita, KeyGene, MusaRadix, and a collaboration with Wageningen University and Research (WUR). Yelloway One represents a significant step forward in creating a sustainable future for the banana industry.

Additionally, the company's booth will transport attendees to the tropics, where they can learn about the history of the brand, the Behind the Blue Sticker initiative, and the production cycle of bananas. The new 2024-2025 Chiquita Sustainability Report will be another key attraction highlighting its commitment to the environment, focusing on carbon reduction, limiting food waste, and combating banana crop diseases with its Yelloway initiative. Additionally, new engaging videos, Q&A sessions, short presentations, and interview sessions with key company spokespersons will also be available for a limited time.

Miss Chiquita will be on-site at the show to interact with visitors.

"We are passionate about bringing the vibrant spirit of the tropics to our customers and consumers. The show is the perfect platform for us to engage with customers and showcase our commitment to the future of the banana industry, through sustainability and innovation," said Jamie Postell, VP of sales, Chiquita North America. "We are particularly excited to introduce Yelloway One, our new banana prototype, and to share our comprehensive Sustainability Report. We look forward to connecting with industry experts and partners to continue building a brighter future together."

This year's show will celebrate the company's achievements in safe working conditions, fair wages, and sustainable agriculture, while also addressing the challenges ahead. The launch of Yelloway One underscores its commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Chiquita looks forward to inviting attendees to experience the tropics and learn more about its initiatives for the year, including the latest Small Change, Big Difference - Pink Sticker Campaign for breast cancer prevention awareness. Additionally, Miss Chiquita will be on-site to interact with visitors.
