Australian vegetable growers to explore global AgTech innovations in California tour

Aussie vegetable growers will gain insights into global innovations and emerging technology in California, aimed at enhancing efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness in the sector through the International Forum of Agricultural Robotics (FIRA USA 2024) US Grower Study Tour. This initiative is part of a new $4.1M strategy to elevate AgTech adoption within the Australian vegetable industry, involving sixteen Australian growers, the Queensland Government, and Hort Innovation.

The tour is set to facilitate discussions on automation and mechanization tailored to the Australian vegetable industry's needs, showcasing over 35 in-field technology demonstrations and solutions for specialty crops. Attendees will benefit from farm visits, networking with international growers, and gaining foresight into agricultural innovation's trajectory. It aims to bridge Australian growers with technology manufacturers, enhancing the identification of technologies suitable for Australian vegetable systems.

Representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries and Hort Innovation underscore the importance of such tours in keeping Australian growers abreast with global production advancements and fostering a sustainable horticulture industry through innovation. The tour promises a platform for direct engagement with technology manufacturers and insights into applicable technological solutions.
