Peru's strawberry exports rise in September 2024, led by frozen varieties

In September 2024, Peru reported exports of 3,271 tons of strawberries, amounting to US$ 5.76 million, marking a growth of +14.8% in volume and +13.8% in value over the previous year. The average price of Peruvian strawberries saw a decrease of -0.9%, moving from US$ 1.78 to US$ 1.76 per kilogram. The exports were predominantly in frozen form, constituting 94.2% of the total, with 2,966 tons valued at US$ 5.43 million. Processed strawberries accounted for 5.4% with 301 tons valued at US$ 310,000, while fresh strawberries represented a minor fraction of 0.4%. The United States emerged as the leading market, receiving 47.9% of the total exports, followed by Canada and South Korea. Agrícola y Ganadera Chavín de Huántar SA was the top exporter for the month, with shipments managed primarily through APM Terminals and DP World.
