Uzbekistan's fruit and veg exports surge by 25.8% from the beginning of the year

Uzbekistan's export of fruit and vegetable products for the first three quarters of the year grew by 25.8%, reaching $1.045 billion, according to the republic's statistics agency. Regarding physical volume, the figure increased by 11.8% to 1.495 million tons.

In particular, exports to Russia rose to $467.3 million (up 34.3%), or 618.9 thousand tons (up 22.8%). The Russian market accounts for 44.7% of the country's total export value. Kazakhstan and Pakistan also rank among the top three markets, each with a 14.1% share, noted the agency.

In May, Uzbekistan's customs committee announced opening special corridors at major customs posts to expedite fruit and vegetable exports. These corridors prioritise the transportation of cabbage, onions, and cherries.

Since May 1, Uzbekistan has also implemented monitoring of export contract prices for fruit and vegetable products. This measure aims to prevent the artificial undervaluation of export prices, ensure proper foreign currency proceeds, and reduce the share of the shadow economy.
