‘Sanitary-Grade’ fruit sorting machine minimises cleaning time and therefore downtime

Some types of fresh produce are just plain dirty to run. Blueberries secrete
juice which builds to a tar-like substance, then hardens like a resin making
it incredibly difficult and time consuming to clean. Snack tomatoes can be
split when delivered to packing machinery, again with their juice fouling
the machinery. Where water fluming through a packing line doesn't exist,
sanitation is a big issue. For too long grading and packing machinery
manufacturers have ignored sanitation standards and protocols in their
designs.

Over the past few years GP Graders have introduced a range of "full sanitary"
grading and packing lines for blueberries, maraschino cherries, tart cherries,
larger snack tomatoes and smaller tomberries.

Developed as a completely unique design that minimises cleaning time and
therefore downtime, these machines represent compounding savings and a
measurable return on investment. These machines would be more at home in
an industrial kitchen than in a traditional fruit-packing facility. Fresh produce is
food and this model of machinery reflects the sanitary processes that would
sit in a food processing facility.

Easy wash down and designed to comply
Designed according to the hygiene and sanitation standards laid out by 3-A
SSI, these machines are built on a chassis made entirely from stainless steel
and have no flat surfaces for water to collect in or sit on, ensuring hygiene
standards can be maintained after wash down. All electrical components have
been encased in IP-rated enclosures to ensure they are at no risk of water
damage. Various other components on the machine use food-grade plastics,
belting and silicon, plus all lubricants are food-grade.

These important features ensure the machine can be easily and quickly
washed down at the end of an operating shift, saving time and money.
Cleaning chemicals can be foamed over the machine then rinsed off
without regard to damaging the machine, or the requirement to disassemble
machinery to access hard to get at places. The framework of the machine has
offset components to allow you access each point of the equipment to spray
down.

Space-saving compact framework
Floor space is valuable, so GP Graders have engineered the sanitary line of
produce graders to use as little of it as possible. Fruit can now be seamlessly
routed to auxiliary packing systems like clamshell fillers, pitting machines,
or bulk filling equipment without the need for long inspection belts, taking up
space that can be used in better ways.

Future-proof
