The ports along the Red Sea, the Baltic, and the Mediterranean have seen the most substantial traffic increases, with significant growth in trade with Australia and South Africa this month. China remains the leading trading partner for Valenciaport, showing a 32.68% increase in relations.
September's traffic data from Valenciaport showcases a total handling of 7.1 million tonnes and 490,516 TEUs, driven by imports, exports, and transits. The export increase is evident both in tonnes, with 2.08 million tonnes processed, and in the number of containers, reaching 70,973 TEUs. These figures represent positive growth compared to the same period last year.
Valenciaport's strategic role as a distribution center for global import/export traffic and transshipments has expanded its exchange with countries like Saudi Arabia, which saw a 49.23% increase. Geographical areas such as the Red Sea, the Baltic countries, and the Mediterranean countries have shown the greatest growth in the first nine months of the year, with trade with Australia and South/East Africa also seeing significant increases this month.
The comprehensive traffic for September reflects a 13.10% monthly growth in tonnes and a 28.95% increase in containers. Year-on-year figures reveal a 7.69% growth in tonnes and a 14.50% increase in TEUs. Passenger traffic also saw an 18.96% overall increase, with a notable rise in regular line passengers and a decrease in the number of cruise passengers compared to the same month in 2023.
