Joint campaign targets peach fly in Tihama's mango and guava crops

The Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources Ministry, in collaboration with the Tihama Development Authority (TDA), initiated an extension campaign targeting the peach fly, a pest impacting mango and guava crops in Tihama Plain's agricultural sectors. The objective is to safeguard these crops by educating farmers on detection, prevention, and the effective application of pesticides against the peach fly. Ahmed Al-Koul, Director General of Plant Protection at the Ministry, highlighted the provision of technical support and guidance, including workshops and guidebooks for farmers on pest control strategies, along with free agricultural consultations through specialized teams.

Engineer Mohammed Haddish, Director of Agricultural Services at TDA, emphasized the importance of farmer participation in the campaign for its success and the adoption of best practices for crop protection. He acknowledged the Ministry's role in enhancing farmers' awareness and promoting sustainable agricultural practices through this initiative.
