"This spring we installed the Lualtek system for the first time in our highly specialised above-ground greenhouse. The need for greater precision in analysing data in order to make the most accurate fertigation decisions was the reason for our choice," says Carmelo Accetta, field agronomist at Italian growing company OP Platinum, who adds: "In the past, the margins of error in the irrigation and fertilisation of our crops were greater because these practices were based on human observation and were therefore somewhat empirical or not always entirely reliable."

"Thanks to this technological innovation, we now have continuous data that are more reliable and detailed than those obtained in the field," explains the technician. "We can now assess the metabolism and physiological activity of the plants, with consequent savings in terms of electricity, technical resources, fertilisers and water. On the other hand, the data is updated every 20 minutes (whereas automation is instantaneous - editor's note), giving us the exact state of the parameters in real time."

Ease of installation
"These elements," says Accetta, "also make production much more sustainable and in line with our company policy, which is increasingly focused on environmental and human health issues. We have been demonstrating this for years, for example with the certification of our nickel-tested vegetables. It is also very easy to install. There are no electric cables, control units, antennas or Internet, which means that we can start up the system ourselves."

"Another aspect of the simplicity of the Lualtek system," says the expert, "is the use of the equipment, which is very practical and intuitive. The accuracy of this technology, which has allowed us to manage our crops in a precise way and with undoubted benefits throughout the decision-making process, has also convinced us to extend the Lualtek system with other devices that will allow us to monitor other parameters, such as water deficit and PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) in the greenhouse."
