Peru exported a record 210,658,965 kilos of fresh mandarins from the start of the year until October 28. This is 31.95% more volume than the 159,652,055 kilos shipped during the same period of the previous year, according to Fernando Cillóniz Benavides, president of the consulting firm Inform@cción.
This is the highest volume of fresh mandarins that Peru has exported so far, exceeding the 206,310,765 kilos exported in 2022. "We've increased our volume without any new plantations, only by increasing our productivity, surpassing the 200,000-ton barrier," Cilloniz Benavides said.
The regions of Ica and Lima were Peru's main mandarin exporting areas during the period analyzed. Ica exported 115,569,463 kilos, which is 37.46% more than the previous year and 54.86% of the total. In turn, Lima exported 77,641,129 kilos, which is 42.65% more than the previous year and accounts for 36.86% of the total.
According to the president of Inform@ccion, the main export destinations for Peruvian fresh mandarins this year were North America with 82,900,485 kilos, followed by Europe with 77,030,013 kilos, Latin America with 36,458,754 kilos, and Asia with 14,820,577 kilos, among others.
