Georgia witnessed a notable adjustment in its Kiwi fruit market within the first nine months of 2024, with imports reaching 1,980 tons, valued at approximately USD 1 million 108 thousand. Data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia highlighted a significant price surge in October, with kiwi prices escalating by 52%. The period from January to September saw a 25.8% increase in the import value and a 13% rise in volume, indicating a higher cost for Kiwi imports into the country.
The majority of Georgia's kiwi imports originated from three countries, with Iran leading by supplying 1,500 tons valued at USD 693 thousand. Turkey and the Netherlands followed, exporting 228 tons worth USD 107 thousand and 38 tons worth USD 37 thousand, respectively. Conversely, Georgia's kiwi exports amounted to 112 tons, garnering USD 196 thousand. The primary export destinations included Armenia, Japan, and Russia, receiving 67 tons worth USD 103 thousand, 26 tons worth USD 71 thousand, and 19 tons worth USD 21 thousand, respectively.
