Ready-to-eat mangoes and ready-to-eat avocados launched

The Kenyan company Keitt announces two new products: ready-to-eat avocados and ready-to-eat mangoes. Erick Nyansimora, Commercial and Supply Chain Manager of Keitt, says he is "delighted with the successful trials in the production and marketing of both new products".

According to Nyansimora, fruit traceability, a crucial factor for this product range, is "guaranteed". He explains: "For each batch, fruit is picked from a single orchard to maintain uniformity of ripeness and taste. Each tray contains the batch history for easy tracing should there be any issue with the fruit, to determine the actual batch and any parameters that may have been omitted. The harvest region, ripeness, and handling of the fruit are decisive for the result."

As for retailers, "they are equally winners with these two new products", assures Ora, "These are perceived as premium line products because we offer a solution to give consumers ready-to-eat fruit combined with premium packaging."

"We've been encouraged by the enthusiastic response on the market. The avocados have been on the shelves for two months, and the mangoes for just over a week. The reception has been good, we're getting positive feedback and demand is slowly increasing. Almost all of the surveyed consumers say they admire the products and they are ready to try them."

Nyansimora concludes on the export capacity for the new products: "We has a capacity of over 1,500 sea containers of Hass avocados per season and over 450 sea containers of mangoes. I can commit to exporting around 40 tons of ripe avocados per week and 25 tons of ripe mangoes per week in season".
