The Dominican Republic is set to commence table grape exports in April of the next year, as announced by Agriculture Minister Limber Cruz. This initiative introduces a variety of high-quality grape types, cultivated within five designated regions out of eleven identified as suitable for grape farming. The inaugural harvest is anticipated in the early months of the year, positioning table grapes as the latest addition to the Dominican Republic's export catalog.
According to Minister Cruz, the nation already participates in international markets with a diverse fruit portfolio including bananas, avocados, mangoes, chestnuts, and citrus. The export list further extends to root crops and other agricultural products such as cassava, sweet potatoes, coffee, cocoa, bell peppers, and oriental vegetables.
Furthermore, Cruz provided assurances regarding the domestic market's preparation for the holiday season, confirming an abundant availability of essential goods like chicken, pork, rice, fruits, and vegetables, thereby preventing any potential shortages
