Vietnam's export portfolio to the US has seen substantial contributions from other agricultural sectors such as cashews, pepper, fruits, and vegetables. Notably, cashew exports have soared to over $871 million, marking a 33 percent increase, while pepper exports have surged to $300 million, up by a staggering 96 percent. Similarly, fruit and vegetable exports have exceeded $254 million, up by 35 percent in the first nine months. Currently, the US has approved the import of eight Vietnamese fresh fruit varieties, including dragon fruit, mango, longan, lychee, rambutan, star apple, pomelo, and coconut.
Recent agreements between Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and the United States Department of Agriculture, finalized on September 9, have successfully concluded technical discussions. These agreements pave the way for legal procedures to permit the importation of Vietnamese passion fruit into the US and initiate review processes for other products such as seedless limes, guava, and jackfruit. With the anticipation of increased US market demand, especially during promotional periods and major year-end holidays, experts predict that this will offer ample opportunities for Vietnam's key export commodities, including agricultural, forestry, and fishery products, as well as textiles and footwear, to experience sustained export growth.
