The export of Georgian mandarins has experienced a notable rise. From January to September 2024, Georgia exported 9,431 tons of mandarins valued at $5.4 million, a significant increase from the 1,980 tons worth $1.1 million exported during the same period last year.
This year, the average export price for 1 kg of Georgian mandarin, excluding taxes, was 57 cents. It's worth mentioning that last year's export figures were roughly the same in terms of value.
The primary export market for Georgian mandarins is Russia. Specifically, in the first nine months of the year, Georgia exported 8,068 tons of mandarins valued at $4.85 million to Russia, accounting for 86% of the total mandarin exports.
As for imports, this year saw the country importing 4,707 tons of products valued at $3.06 million, compared to 3,273 tons worth $2.5 million during the first nine months of last year.
Georgia primarily imports mandarins from Turkey. For instance, this year, 4,518 tons of mandarins worth $2.93 million were imported from the mentioned country, representing 96% of the total imports.
