Avocado prices reach $74.25 for large hass, cucumber prices drop

This report provides a trend analysis of the volume and prices of Seasonal Perishable commodities. Volume represents the current week, and prices represent open (spot) market sales by first handlers on products of generally good quality and condition unless otherwise stated and may include promotional allowances or other incentives. The charts provide a graphic representation of the volume and prices of the major commodities this week based on seasonal volume.

Asparagus
Movement from Peru imported through South Florida ports of entry is expected to increase. Trading is moderate. Prices are slightly higher. 11-pound cartons of bunched jumbo are mostly 28.85-32.75, extra-large are mostly 24.85-27.75, large are mostly 22.75-24.75, standard are mostly 20.00-22.75, and small are 17.75-18.75. Supplies of large are fairly light. Quality is generally good. Movement from Mexico crossings through Arizona, California and Texas is expected to remain about the same. Trading is fairly slow. Prices are generally unchanged. 11-pound cartons of bunched standard are 22.75. Extra services are included. Prices represent few spot market sales.

Avocado
Movement from Mexico's crossings through Texas is expected to remain about the same. Trading of 32-40s is active, while others are moderate. Supplies of 32-40s are very light. Prices of conventional are higher, organic prices are generally unchanged. Cartons of 2-layers Hass 32-36s are mostly 72.25- 74.25, 40s are mostly 67.25-70.25, 48s are mostly 54.25-55.25, 60s are mostly 32.25-34.25, 70s are mostly 21.25-23.25, and 84s are mostly 17.25-18.25; organic 48s are mostly 65.25-68.25, 60s are mostly 44.25-48.25, and 70s are mostly 36.25-38.25. Extra services are included.

Cucumber
Movement from Mexico crossings through Nogales, Arizona is expected to increase. Supplies are heavy. Trading is slow. Prices are much lower. 1 1/9-bushel cartons medium are 10.95-12.95, fair quality is 7.95-10.95, ordinary quality is 5.95-8.95; small are mostly 7.95-9.95; large are mostly 9.95-10.95. Cartons 24s are 4.95-7.95, 36s are 5.95-9.95. Quality is generally good. Movement from Mexico's crossings through Texas is expected to decrease. Trading early was moderate, and late was fairly slow. Prices are much lower. 1 1/9-bushel cartons medium are mostly 12.9513.95, fair quality are mostly 9.95-10.95, ordinary quality are mostly 6.95-7.95, large are mostly 11.95-13.95. Quality and condition are variable.

Green bell pepper
Movement from South Georgia is expected to increase seasonally even as rain and wet fields curtailed movement last week. Trading is active at lower prices. The price includes palletizing and precooling. 1 1/9-bushel cartons jumbo and extra-large are mostly 38.00, large are 32.00-34.00; extra-large fair quality are mostly 32.00. Quality is variable. Movement from Coachella Valley, California is expected to increase seasonally. Current supplies are in too few hands to establish a market. Quality is generally good.
